Extended Demonstration of the iMERMAID solutions in new associated regions

iMERMAID Open Call #2 will provide a total of €500.000 to engage with new ‘associated regions’, including in new sea basins and countries. The selected associated regions will receive funding and technical advisory services to prepare roadmaps, plans, and projects aimed at preventing, eliminating, and remediating water pollution from chemicals, addressing possible barriers and showing the feasibility of implementing innovative solutions. The iMERMAID project develops innovative solutions that prevent, monitor and remediate the Mediterranean against Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CoEC). The awarded third parties will be engaged in further demonstration of the innovative iMERMAID solutions. Beneficiaries are required to propose their own actions, addressing their specific challenges and objectives, aligning with the goals of iMERMAID and with the aim to identify suitable solutions coming from the iMERMAID project that will support their chemical monitoring and remediation activities. The proposed extended action and area needs to be compatible with the iMERMAID objectives, solutions and processes. ​​Proposals addressing the domains already tackled in the internal project use-cases can be the same but need to be executed in a different region. iMERMAID will provide financial support to third parties based on principles of transparency, objectivity and fairness. Eligible entities: Financial support to third parties may only be awarded to local and/or regional authorities from an ‘associated region’. The maximum amount to be granted to each “associated region” is EUR 100,000. *Local and regional authorities from an associated region are legal entities, including bodies representing a regional/local authority (such as regional/local agencies, regional planning bodies, regional/local transport authorities, etc…), who can showcase the feasibility, replicability and scalability of the solutions developed in the iMERMAID project. What is an associated region: Associated regions’ are understood as areas with similar ecosystems (e.g., neighbouring regions and/or regions in a different river basin) and/or less -developed regions, with the view to build capacity to implement the innovative solutions to restore freshwater ecosystems. Associated regions should be located in Member States/Associated countries other than those that are part of the project consortium. Eligible: EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated countries. Please check the full list of Associated countries: here. Non-eligible are all the countries, in which the iMERMAID project partners are based: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Tunisia, Ukraine. Non-eligible are as well the following regions, as they have already been awarded under iMERMAID Open Call 1: Bosanska Krajina, Cimişlia district and Yüreğir Region - Adana Province.

All applicants should fill in the application form available on the F6S platform and attach a completed Annex 2 Proposal Template, containing the description of the proposed project.
