TITAN Open Call

Description

The implementation of the TITAN sub-projects will be divided in 3 cycles, following the cycles of the TITAN Business Support Programme: MUST-DO (M1-M3), SHOULD-DO (M4-M15), and COULD-DO (M16-M18 months). Each of the 3 Business Support Programme cycles will be considered as finalized with the submission of the respective deliverable, which reflects the activities carried out in the period corresponding with the appropriate cycle of the Business Support Programme. Once the deliverable is received, it will be assessed by the relevant TITAN partners. Upon the assessment of a deliverable, additional information might be requested from the awarded external pilots in order for the deliverable to be accepted. Payments are expected to be made approximately one month after the submission of the deliverable, presuming that the deliverable is accepted. Based on the results of the review and acceptance of respective deliverables, payment will be made towards the subgrantees in the following modalities: Cycle 1 – MUST-DO (M03 - Payment of 40% of the total subgrant. Cycle 2 – SHOULD-DO (M15) - Payment of 40% of the total subgrant. Cycle 3 – COULD-DO (M18) Payment of final 20% of the total subgrant.

Beneficiary & submission

Submission: Within the Open Call, TITAN will select 8 external pilots from the following Pilot groups: Food Safety, Sustainability and Health. All Open Call winners must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in Section 3 of Annex 2: Guidelines for Applicants. TITAN Open Call will accept applications from single applicants, or small consortia consisting of up to three members. At the time of application, all applicants must submit the following: Annex 4 (Declaration of Honour) and Annex 5 (Declaration of Conducting Business). The applicants who apply as members of small consortia of up to three members must also submit the Annex 6 (Consortium Declaration). During the contracting phase, winners of the TITAN Open Call must also provide: Annex 7 (Bank account information) and three signed copies of the Subgrantee Agreement (indicative model given as an Annex 8, for informative purposes only), which will be given to them upon being declared a winning applicant. All applications for the TITAN Open Call must be done in English, since the submissions done in other languages will be considered ineligible and will not be evaluated. The entry point for submitting of all applications for TITAN Open Calls will be the TITAN website, (https://titanproject.eu/open-call/), which will lead to the Open Call Hub platform (https://opencallhub.eu/open-call/titan-project). Applications received through any other channel will be automatically discarded. All the documents needed for the application (TITAN Open Call documentation kit) will be available on the TITAN website, on the section dedicated to the Open Calls. Evaluation: After the TITAN Open Call has been closed, an eligibility check process will be carried out by the TITAN Open Call Manager so that only eligible applications are forward to the appointed external evaluators. Following the eligibility check, a remote evaluation will be done by carefully selected external reviewers. Each application will be reviewed by two different reviewers, with specific technical and/or business expertise. The evaluation criteria cover: i) Experiment and Excellence – 30%, ii) Technology and Alignment – 25%, iii) Impact – 30%, and iv) Team – 15% and each criterion can be scored with marks from 1 to 5. In order to be considered for selection, the average mark for each criterion has to be at least 3 (with the exception of Impact, which has a threshold set at 4). Upon conclusion of the evaluation, up to 16 applications will be selected for Online interviews (with respect to the Pilot group they have applied for), which will be carried out by the TITAN Project Coordinator, Open Call Manager, leader of the “Digital Technologies” Work Package and a partner from the relevant TITAN Pilot group the applicant has applied under. The following criteria will be considered during these interviews: Concept and Technology – 40%, Business – 30%, Exploitation – 30%. In order to be selected for funding, the average mark for of the Online interview criteria has to be at least 3.

Further information

In order to contribute to creating a rich and vibrant ecosystem in the food supply chain domain, TITAN will organize an Open Call for innovative solutions in order to select and fund eight of the most innovative and ambitious pilots that will enhance the value of food supply chains through increased transparency, in the following three TITAN pilot groups: Food Safety, Sustainability and Health, where TITAN intends to select at least two external pilots in each pilot group. In total, TITAN intends to fund 8 winners in the Open Call. The total sum for the Open Call is €1,250,640.00, and each external pilot will be funded for €156,330.
