Financial support for start-ups registered in Estonia for developing new cybersecurity tools or services (Cyber Accelerator)

Description

The programme supports the competitiveness of the European cybersecurity sector through research and development activities, thus better protecting Estonian and EU society and the business environment from cyberattacks that cause billions of euros in damage!

Beneficiary & submission

Start-ups registered in Estonia can submit applications online by visiting the Tehnopol Startup Incubator portal at: https://www.startupincubator.ee/en/cyberaccelerator/. Applicants are required to submit their project plans. The business ideas of accelerator participants must align with one of two core missions: providing state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions for the private sector, particularly targeting SMEs; or safeguarding the cybersecurity of new technologies (AI, space tech, datafication, digital trust, etc.).  Applications submitted by start-ups are evaluated by the Tehnopol Startup Incubator Estonia and the Estonian Information System Authority (fulfilling the role of National Coordination Centre of Estonia). The Startup Incubator's task is to assess whether the start-up meets the necessary requirements for applying. Experts from the Startup Incubator and the Authority (NCC-EE) will evaluate the start-ups' project plans, cybersecurity aspects, team composition, as well as the feasibility and innovativeness of the ideas. After the evaluation process, all applicants will receive a decision.

Further information

Each team selected for the accelerator receives €48,000 without the need for co-funding. The aim of the Cyber Accelerator programme is to support and develop 15 startups within two years. The programme caters to early-stage cybersecurity startups and spin-off companies, offering assistance in product and business development. This facilitates the launch of new cybersecurity products and services that provide broader value to other sectors as well.
